ControlAir App Reviews
Awesome idea and great work so far, but not quite ready for prime time. Needs work on: - calibration, ability to change the sensitivity of the movement tracking. e.g. When I move my finger to the right sometimes it selects the “next track” button, sometimes it selects “volume up”, sometimes it disappears. When I lower the finger for the “press” gesture, it will sometimes press the button beside the one I wanted. - consistency. It recognized the “shush” gesture only about half the time, and half the time it would do nothing. Raising a finger for the “ready” gesture was also recognized only about half the time. I was sitting from the same position and at same distance from the camera and testing the gestures about every 2-5 seconds. - needs more controlled apps. Would love to control web browser (Chrome) using this. - needs more built-in gestures and ability to define custom gestures - tutorial needs to indicate how to access preferences after the tutorial is finished. I didn’t notice that there was a new icon in the notification bar.
I like this app, it’s not more efficient than using my other alternatives but I feel cool doing it. An improvement would be to be able to interface this « input method » with other music/media control app. My personal favorite is BeardedSpice, it can control about everything including YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, etc. It would be perfect with that feature.
crashes on tutorial
everytime i go to tutorial it quits
Not working
Wont launch tutorial do not connect to my webcam the green light do not show up when enabeled
Before installing this app, read that people were frustrated because of the camera recognition issue. I tried it out and it worked. At first when I put it directly close, it didn’t but I tried different distances and thats where I got the camera to work.
Doesn’t work
For some reason it doesn’t work for me
I like this app!
It’s a great app I’ve ever met! I’ll be happy if I can control YouTube playing with web browser, such as Safari, Chrome or Firefox.
Amazing!!!!!
I think its a really good app!!!
It Great
its the best it work best work with iTunes
Make it work with XBMC Kodi and I’ll love you.
Now controlling multimedia is more fun than ever. I hope It’ll work with Kodi too that would be perfect ^^
Amazing
Great program, but needs some work and improvements. Sometimes(very often) it does not see my finger whatever I do.
on every action , it only decreases the volume.. It sees the finger, but executes only one action. update please) the idea is great, implementation is not good..
At the first run suggested tutorial. As I had to go I decided to postpone it. From that time tutrorial doesn’t work, nothing happens when this app runs in background.
The app doesnt always work .. raise finger nothign happens. Selection suffers the same sometime it works sometime it doesn’t. Good attempt but not ready yet.
Broken
The app doesn’t recognize the index finder during the tutorial. I tried different times without luck.
The idea is great! Will it have an issue on battery consumption? I think you should give an option to activate the camera with a voice command. Also, you should hide the commands once the hand lowers down. Good job! :)
If you use camtwist you will have to start up camtwist and this app to have it work. There needs to be a setting to choose a camera. This app is assuming that Camtwist is my camera and there is no option to choose my acutal camera. Works but not worth using if you use Camtwist app. Please consider adding a option to select cameras, I think this would fix this issue and allow people who have more than one camera use one for only gestures and one for there main webcam. Best of luck!
Doesn’t work at all.
This app doesn’t work whatsoever, is extremely glitchy, and has yet to recognize even a single one of my gestures. Great idea, terrible app!
Now let me be honest… I don’t like writing reviews. Although when I downloading this app for free I was’t expecting much, afterall it is free. Although when I started using it, I was proved wrong. At first it seems as it doesn’t work well. You have to find an angle in that it works and stay near that spot. I’m not sure how fluid it runs on iMacs but atleast on my old MacBook it is amazing! If you’re looking for an awesome way to skip, pause, and control the volume on mac, this is an awesome choice.
At first I had to play around with the distance of my index finger to the Macbook, but once I got the jist of it was able to access the controls and so forth, it’s an amazing utility function. Thank you for this app. For me, it worked better with pushing the buttons by having my index finger angled like idk 15-45 degrees so it senses that your finger is bending downwards in order to push the button.
